Gustave Tiffoche (1930-2011) began producing ceramics and sculptures at the workshop of Norbert Pierlot in 1961.
Both his utility pieces and 'one-off' works became highly sort after. His abstract paintings also attracted a lot of attention.
He became professor at the School of Plastic Arts in Saint-Nazaire, France, tutoring such celebrated ceramic artists as Jorgen Hansen , Miguel Bosh, Micki Schoessingk , Jacques Fleuret, Pascal Castagnet, Odile Maisonneuve, Françoise Dufayard, Suzanne Schurch, Édouard Kohler , Pia Koller.
His extraordinary passion for experimenting can be seen in this vase with its salt glaze and oxide brushwork upon rectangulated stoneware.
It is clearly signed with his mark 'gt'.
There has been a repair to the lip ... but I just had to show this incredible creation - please see photo.
