Art Deco Ox Blood mottled green and yellow glaze Les Yvelines Vase Louis Franchet interest
A surpurb example of early 1900's French Art-Deco studio pottery.
Les Yvelines is the next Department (78) east of Paris.
The ox blood with mottled green and yellow glaze is unforgettable, and so is the elegant Art-Deco style.
Another similar ceramic piece has been observed as being by the hand of Louis Franchet (1869-1940). However, although his distinctive stamp is not visible here, I have photographed an enhanced image of the base, and there does seem to be something else written by hand there - unfortunately I cannot read it. I can send the enhanced photo if requested.
The only other possible connection is that in 1907 Franchet moved to Asnieres-sur-Seine which is only a few kilometres east of Les Yvelines department.
